Split is a Mediterranean city located on the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. It centres on the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian. It is the largest Dalmatian city and the second largest city of Croatia. The city is an intraregional transport hub and acts as a link to numerous Adriatic islands and the Apennine peninsula.
